Veterans Helping Veterans

In honor of “Hire a Veteran Day”, we are highlighting our very own Jeff Imel. Jeff serves the Indiana Region as the Regional Program Director for Service to the Armed Forces and International Services. In his Service to the Armed Forces role, Jeff is responsible for leading a team of staff and volunteers in supporting active-duty services members, veterans, and their families through providing emergency communication services and financial assistance. In his role in International Services, Jeffrey leads a cadre of volunteers who serve clients searching for missing family members who have been separated by international armed conflict.

Before joining the Red Cross in 2018, Jeff served eight years in the United States Marine Corps and after leaving active duty spent three decades working as an electrical engineer and teaching electrical engineering technology.

The Red Cross has provided Jeff with an opportunity to help members of the military even after his time serving on active duty.

“I continue to serve my country and work alongside my service members, veterans, and their families but wearing a different uniform,” states Imel.
