Giving a Gift to Impact Lives

With the United States facing a critical blood shortage, many of our recurring donors are answering the call and scheduling their donation appointments.

One of those dedicated donors is Donna from Schererville, IN. Donna made her first blood donation 40 years ago, after learning her specific blood type could be used to help prematurely born infants in need of blood and has consistently donated ever since.

Donna has donated blood consistently for 40 years, and through these donations, has made a lasting impact on countless lives. A retired nun, Donna feels that donating blood is a great way to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.

“I never had children of my own, so donating blood is a way for me to make a positive impact on children’s lives.” – Donna

Donna recently donated blood at a local blood drive, and while she was donating was working with a blood drive ambassador to set up her next donation appointment after her waiting period has passed.

Donna is just one of the countless blood donors who have signed up to donate in the wake of the national blood shortage. While their support is incredible, the American Red Cross needs more donors to address the shortage. Anyone who is interested in donating blood can visit redcrossblood.org to find a drive near you and make an appointment.
