Today’s Volunteer Spotlight highlights Ellie Boyle. Ellie joined the Red Cross in October of 2020 as a part of the recruitment team. Ellie was looking for ways to serve her community and found a meaningful role as a recruiter for the volunteer services team. Joining the Red Cross team at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unique challenges for volunteers, but Ellie managed to serve the Red Cross while also staying on top of her college courses.

When asked what her favorite aspect of volunteering is, Ellie said that it was connecting with and learning more about the needs of her community, as well as the greater Indiana community. Ellie’s time with the Red Cross has helped her grow as a communicator and has increased her comfort level with talking to new people. The Red Cross has shown Ellie the great need for resources in rural and culturally diverse communities.
Dedicated volunteers like Ellie are what makes the execution of the Red Cross’ mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering possible. If you are interested in becoming a Red Cross volunteer, visit redcross.org/volunteer to learn more about available opportunities.
