The Indiana Region of the American Red Cross would not be able to do what it does for the community without our wonderful volunteers. On this #ThankfulTuesday, we are shining the light on Beverly (Bev) Wagner, who has been volunteering for the American Red Cross – Indiana Region since April of 2018! Beverly is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Bev Wagner found herself seeking in her retirement “something productive to do that helps others.” Fast forward to the present day, the enthusiasm for the Red Cross mission has continued well past her three years of service mark.
Inspired by the “enthusiasm, passion, and excitement of new volunteers”, Bev has gifted her time and talent, becoming the lead of the Volunteer Screening Team as well as the Regional Application Support Team. Her roles are virtual and prove even from home how each volunteer position within the Red Cross is crucial to providing support.
Screeners are the first volunteers to provide guidance and direction to new volunteers as they begin their journey on becoming new Red Crossers.
As a screening volunteer, attention to detail while navigating a prospective volunteer’s interests are two of the most important aspects of the role. Being the first connection to the local Red Cross after application steps have been completed successfully sets the stage for a new Red Crosser as they navigate the vast opportunities at the Red Cross. Bev is always willing to go above and beyond in each call and her thoroughness has stewarded many new volunteers to find their role.
“It is very fulfilling to help fill high needed positions and volunteers in engagement”, said Bev Wagner.
We thank Bev for her service to the Red Cross and for helping lead many new Red Crossers into finding their roles to help fulfill the mission and delivery of services of the Red Cross.
