In Loving Memory of Carolyn Jackson, a Central Chapter Volunteer

The American Red Cross Indiana Region is deeply saddened to share the passing of Carolyn Jackson, a longtime volunteer with our Central Chapter.

Carolyn joined the Red Cross as a disaster team volunteer and recovery caseworker in September 2017. She was a dedicated member of the Central Chapter and could be seen at the Muncie office often.

Bruce Walters, a fellow volunteer, says Carolyn was always willing to help others and loved being in the community and meeting new people. He says Carolyn frequently responded to disaster action team calls, assisting individuals and families affected by home fires and completing casework too.

“She went to church every Sunday, and we knew that she wasn’t available until after one o’clock,” said Bruce. “After church, we would call her, and she’d always go out on calls.”

During her seven years of service with the Red Cross, Carolyn helped countless families and individuals across Indiana. Carolyn was a one-of-a-kind, dependable volunteer, and had a laugh that was contagious. She will be greatly missed by her team and friends, and her service to the Red Cross is irreplaceable.

Services for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, August 3, at Towns Acres Church of Christ, 2411 E Riggin Road, Muncie, Indiana 47302. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service following.
